Changes below affect both the website and the Android app unless listed under Android app.

Website & Android app

New features

• Rich text message editor — the message input now uses a proper rich-text editor (Tiptap) in place of the old manual contenteditable, for more reliable formatting and editing. You can also now use custom emojis inline!
• Delete direct chats from the chat list — you can now remove a direct chat straight from the chat list.

Notifications

• Push notifications now cover the remaining message types (image, video, gif, audio, file), not just text.

Link previews

• Reworked how link previews are generated and rehydrated; internal message URLs are no longer sent to the preview server. This relieves load on the preview server and also prevents instability caused by on-demand loading of previews from within the message list.

Performance

• Virtualised chat event list — the message list is now virtualised. This greatly reduces the memory and cpu usage of the chat list. The link preview work was one of the pre-requisites for this work because we need all message entries to fixed height at the time of initial render. This should also make scrolling back and forward in the timeline more efficient and predictable, addressing a long standing weakness of the app.

Swaps / token trading

• Added TACO Exchange as a swap provider.
• Whitelisted OpenTrades domain for embedding OpenChat.

Bug fixes

• Fixed back/pop navigation so it only pops to a route actually behind you in history.
• Fixed events-window loading, pinned-messages panel reactivity, and a tip render crash.
• Fixed reaction activity bug when reacting to your own message.

Removed

• Sunset DecideAI unique-personhood (verified human) verification — hidden from the UI. The service has become unusable and it is not fair to those who cannot verify to leave it in place. We are investigating alternative mechanisms by which this can be achieved and will bring this feature back as soon as we can.

Android app

New features

• Share into OpenChat from other apps — OpenChat now registers as a share target, so content shared from other apps can be sent into a chat.
• Save media to your device — you can now save downloaded images, videos and files to the device.
• Audio recording view — new waveform display while recording an audio message.

Redesigns

• Prize message bubble — unified redesign covering draft, reply and live states.
• Proposal message bubbles — refreshed design.
• Video call message — redesigned.
• Prize content builder — restructured layout to match designs.

Performance

• Faster image attach — image-attach latency cut from 5–8s to under 500ms.

Bug fixes

• Longpress on image messages no longer freezes the WebView.
• Chat menu no longer closes immediately after a longpress.
• Draft replies to video-call messages now render using the reply view.
• Fixed reactivity bugs affecting newly created swaps.
• Double-tap no longer clashes with pinch-to-zoom.
• Downloaded files now get proper names.
• Fixed notification summary bugs.
