Staking in the Governance System
Neurons
ICP utility token holders can stake their ICP within neurons in the Network Nervous System (NNS) to engage in network governance and earn voting rewards for their participation. Neurons are “not dissolving” by default. In order to unlock and withdraw the tokens, a token holder must completely dissolve their neuron. The period of time over which this occurs is called a “dissolve delay.” Token holders can increase a dissolve delay at any time, but neurons always dissolve in real time. Neurons are created and managed using the NNS dapp.
