Staking in the Governance System
Neuron
The global cost of cybercrime was USD 9.5 trillion in 2024. It is estimated to cost USD 10.5 trillion in 2025 and projected to reach USD 12.2 trillion annually by 2031. We believe that the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) offers Cybersecurity solutions to enforce confidentiality, integrity, and availability (information security CIA triad). As devoted Cybersecurity researchers, we are always looking for innovative solutions that don’t just address risks but fundamentally shift how we defend against them. That’s why UTOPIA (Unstoppable, Tamperproof, Open Platform for Independent Autonomy) initiative by the DFINITY Foundation using ICP caught our attention: it offers a private, sovereign cloud built on ICP that promises to be unstoppable, tamper-proof, and open — exactly the kind of groundbreaking architecture we have been seeking. The purpose of establishing a Known Neuron under the name Cybersecurity is to actively participate in the governance of the Internet Computer network. We aim to ensure that developments and decisions within the network reflect the broad range of interests of our projects and their user base. The management of the neuron will be adaptable and community focused. While we will vote on proposals that align with our vision, we may also choose to follow other respected neurons in the ecosystem when doing so benefits our community and the IC network. This approach will allow us to remain responsive and responsible in our governance participation.
