Staking in the Governance System

Neuron

By staking ICP inside Network Nervous System (NNS) neurons, token holders can participate in network governance and earn voting rewards. Withdrawing the ICP requires a notice period configuration called a “dissolve delay,” which refers to the timespan until the neuron is dissolved and the tokens are unlocked. Dissolve delays can always be lengthened, but can only be reduced in real time. A neuron’s voting power and corresponding voting rewards are proportional to the quantity of staked ICP, the amount of staked maturity, the length of its dissolve delay, and the amount of time that passes before the neuron begins to dissolve, which is its “age.” You can use the NNS dapp to create and manage neurons, as well as vote on proposals.

* Voting reward percentages change dynamically over time and depend on the number of ICP token holders participating in network governance, as well as the dissolve delay and age of their neurons.
GEEKFACTORY
Known Neuron

GeekFactory has been an active participant in the Internet Computer ecosystem from the Genesis, demonstrating a strong commitment and contribution to the network. Our engagement has been further acknowledged by receiving multiple DFINITY grants for our projects. Our team, comprised of professionals with diverse expertise in software development, focuses on creating products for both IC developers and end-users. To learn more about our initiatives or to get in touch, please visit our website: geekfactory.app, and connect with us on X, Discord or OpenChat.

GeekFactory has developed a suite of six distinct projects, each designed to enhance different aspects of the Internet Computer ecosystem:

vpGeek: A dashboard for Internet Computer Voting Power providing users with detailed insights and analytics on voting behaviors and patterns within the IC governance.

idGeek: An Internet Identity and SNS Neuron Marketplace that facilitates the trading and management of SNS neurons and Internet Identities.

nftGeek: A comprehensive analytics and portfolio tool for IC NFTs and Tokens offering users a clear view of their digital assets and market trends.

canisterGeek: A management tool for IC canisters simplifying the process of monitoring cycles and memory consumption, logs, and more.

confiGeek: A remote configuration tool designed for the IC enabling developers to manage and update their dApps’ configurations with ease and efficiency.

userGeek: A product analytics tool tailored for the IC providing developers with valuable insights into product trends and user behavior patterns.

The purpose of establishing a Known Neuron under the name GeekFactory is to actively participate in the governance of the Internet Computer network. We aim to ensure that developments and decisions within the network reflect the broad range of interests of our projects and their user base. Our management of the neuron will be adaptable and community-focused. While we will actively vote on proposals that align with our vision, we may also choose to follow other respected neurons in the ecosystem when it benefits our community and the IC network. This approach allows us to remain responsive and responsible in our governance participation. Furthermore, we reserve the right to adjust our voting strategy as needed and are open to evolving into a DAO in the future, ensuring that all participants in our ecosystem have a voice in governance decisions.
